Canal locks, aqueduct & triple bridge

Håverud’s aqueduct is a free-hanging, riveted steel channel about 33.5 metres long that carries canal boats directly above a rushing rapid. Completed in 1868 and designed by Nils Ericson, it’s unique in the world – unlike typical stone-arch aqueducts, it’s suspended metal, with a railway and road bridge crossing right alongside it.
Nearby Dalslands Center offers a café, hostel, museum and smokehouse, and visitors can watch boats pass through the locks or ride the scenic railway.
